Distance Education Classrooms UNL Video Services coordinates the use of 4 interactive classrooms located on City Campus. The rooms (WSEC 111, WSEC 237, Mabl 128 and CBA 104) are designed to allow courses to be shared between campuses, and with other locations via satellite and other developing technologies. Two types of video are used in distance education: one-way and two-way (or multi-way video). One-way video enables video to be transmitted in one direction. Multiple sites can see the instructor, but the instructor can only see students present in his/her location. Audio interaction is generally accomplished via telephone lines. In two-way and multi-way classes, video signals are transmitted both ways. Each site sees and hears students at the other sites. Each location is equipped with video cameras, microphones and monitors. The Neb*Sat satellite system offers both one-way and two-way delivery options. In addition, a two-way audio-video fiber optic connection between UNL and UNO and UNMC provides another pathway. The scheduling of classes for credit over any of the interactive systems is initiated by the department offering the class. For more information, please contact us.
