Title: " Meave Leakey "
Leakey's lecture was entitled "The Search & Discovery of Our Earliest Ancestors." Earlier this year Leakey stunned the world when she announced that her team had discovered a 3.5 million-year-old skull buried in volcanic ash on the western shore of an African lake. The British paleoanthropologist and zoologist said the distorted skull represented a new branch a new genus and species in mankinds family tree. She named it Kenyanthropus platyops, or flat-faced man of Kenya. The Leakeys have spent most of their lives in Kenya hunting fossils to explain the origins of mankind.
